Is relgiona dying practice

Is Relgion a dying Practice?

Recently I heard somebody tell me that religion was a dying practice. This really struck me and I thought about it. England has become almost completely secular. Latin America has been almost 100% catholic since the founding of the new world. In recent times we have seen a wave of conversions to Protestants in Latin America. A large portion has been Guatemala. Around 30-40% of the total population in Guatemala is now Protestant. Why? I think it is because the Catholic Church has not recognized that it has competion now with other religions.

Eygpt

http://www.theguardian.com/world/egypt. In this page it shows all the current events going on in eygpt. in the past few weeks we have been hearing alot about eygpts poltical unrest. With the arrest and overthrow of their president it is a time of uncertainty what will become of their people and political government. As an american and catholic I
hope they come to a peaceful and effective solution that is in the benefit of the people. I hope no bloodshed is spilled
over this matter
I do belevie though that the american government cannot get involved in thios process. for to long we have been
acting as the worlds big brother and it has to stop. The Egyptian people must come to their own solution if they wish
to be a succesful country and group of people. If the United States steps in and offers aid they will not be helping
but babying the people of egypt. they must learn on their own what it takes to become a democratic nation amd
they will have to hold each other in check so that they may acheive this goal.

Guantanamo Bay

We have all heard about guntanmo bay. President Obama campigned that he would shut down it but never came through on it. Gunatnamo bay is a prison located on the island of Cuba. It houes all of ournations  terrisotsts and hard criminals.  Without it we would not have a place to send and investigate terriosts. But the problem at hand is it humane? Some of the photos that have come out are pretty disturbing. But do they deserve it? the men that attacked the twin towers, do they deserve to be treated humanely even thouight they killed 3,000 people in less than a day? In my opinion as a catholic they should not be treated this way. But my views as an american, they should be.  If somebody attacks this country they deserve to be punished and gunatnmo bay is the place to do it. Without this prison for terrisots we would not be able to use this as a deter for terriozeing.

Syria 9/7/13

http://youtu.be/-KSzd-S3wyA this link is for a video updating the people of images the us found in syria to suggest chemical warfare had been used. As catholics and children of God we should not allow for this to happen. I myself am a conservative but i completely agree with president Obama a strike against the ashaad regime is completely necessary and must be carried out.                                                s we should rally behind president Obama and order a strike against syria.

Another reason why an attack would be good against syria is because it would allow and showother country's   that chemical war fare is not okay and will not be accepted in the society we have built today. Another reason why an attack would be good against syria is because we would not be sending any troops in on the ground like unlike the iraq invasion. we would merely be shooting rockets at the ashaad  government. one thing i do not like about this is that there is the opportunity that you could also harm civilians in an attack like this. If we are to go ahead with president obamas plan of attack andcivilians  are hurt which they inevitably will then i far the fall out from the attack would put a lot of strain on president obamas adimistartion and up holdings in the political community

GOd in School

In the past few years we all have heard about (as the media likes to put it) the PROBLEM that God plays in school.  In our time the courts have ruled that prayer is not allowed in school. Teachers are no longer allowed to offer prayer during schools or pray for anything as a class. Instead moments of silence are offered but you are probably saying to yourself that sounds like a fix to the problem but now atheists  are insisting that we should also get rid of this moment of silence as well because it still implies that prayer is still in school or that a God still exists. This whole uprising against religion stems from the idea  that of separation of church and state and to an extent i agree with it. This extent though is a small one. for example I would not want the Pope leading our country because that then would be an oligarchy or for that fact any one man or woman not elected by the people. But the fact still remains that the founding fathers were extremely religious men and modeled our country after their beliefs. One fact that not to many people know is that separation of church and sate is not part of thee constitution it was an idea proposed by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to a church. It was not in the context that we use it today. In conclusion I have provided you the facts of this very delicate subject and I encourage you to use this information with whatever you see fit.
